Robust lifting tables for
various applications
WEDICO has a very complete range of lifting tables that mainly comply with the European Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. In addition, depending on the application, we also comply with a large number of product-specific standards:
| DIN EN 1494: This standard covers mobile lifting equipment. In particular, the standard deals with safety requirements such as brake provision or fall protection.
| DIN EN 1570-1: This is the safety standard for lift tables that reach up to two stops. Certain aspects, such as balustrades on loading tables, are described in great detail to achieve the highest level of safety.
| DIN EN 1570-2: Is an extension of DIN EN 1570-1 for lift tables with more than 2 stops.
| DIN EN 280: Another widely used standard is DIN EN 280, which forms the basis for mobile elevating work platforms and deals with, for example, the calculation of stability.
| DIN EN 1915-1: If a scissor lift is used at the airport, this standard will apply.
There are also a whole host of general standards, all aimed at maximising the quality and safety of the solution. We follow these closely to achieve our mission: longevity.
Our scissor lift solutions are tailor-made with specific dimensions, load capacities and infinitely variable height adjustment
Lift tables are not only used to move loads vertically, but can also rotate and tilt. The loading platform can also be equipped with a roller conveyor or even the entire lift table can be built in a mobile version.
Some advantages of using scissor lifts
| An autonomous robust construction
In scissor lifts, both the drive and guidance of the loading platform are done by the scissors. The construction of these scissors therefore determines the stability and quality of the machine.
Our lift tables contain a lot of full steel components, making them very heavy and at the same time stable. They rest with the bottom frame on the floor, so that the forces are only carried via the floor and not via a building structure.
A simple modification in metal construction will make the lift table suitable for heavier loads. For example, loads of 40 tonnes and more can be transported.
| Ergonomic comfort
Using scissor lift tables for vertical goods transport will not only avoid physical strain, but our solutions also enable personnel to work safely at the correct ergonomic height. This can be done by the lifting table bringing people to the correct working height (elevating work table) or by lifting goods to the correct height (lifting work table). Working ergonomically will lead to more working comfort and less downtime.
| High flexibility
Our lift table solutions are available in different versions. For long loading platforms and low lifting heights, tandem scissors can be used; for higher lifting heights, double or even triple scissors can be used. The possibilities are numerous and are discussed in detail with each project so that we arrive at the best solution.
When using a scissor lift, central loading is always important. This will reduce axial forces to a minimum and put minimal strain on the steel construction.
With tandem scissors, this is not so easy. If the load is more on one scissor set than the other, the least loaded scissor will lift faster and skew the platform. This is why we place the scissor sets as close together as possible. If this is not feasible because of the dimensions, we provide an oil synchronisation system.
Unique to our lifting tables are the integrated hollow profiles. These are located in the inner claws and ensure excellent rigidity of the lifting system. This torsional rigidity is very important when lifting tables are loaded asymmetrically, which cannot always be avoided.
Drive
The lift table can be driven in various ways: hydraulically, toothed belt, push chain(s) or with spindle (trapezoid or ball spindle)
With a hydraulic drive, an electric motor will drive a hydraulic pump, which in turn will pump hydraulic oil into the cylinders. We usually work with this system of drive for our lifting tables. The main reasons for this are:
| A hydraulic drive for lifting tables exhibits low wear and tear. This is because the hydraulic oil provides good internal lubrication, reducing friction. In addition, the oil will also provide cooling.
| The aggregate can be set up not only under the lift table but also externally at different locations.
| Overload protection can be easily set by a pressure limiting valve. This valve will ensure that the maximum oil pressure cannot be exceeded.
| The components of a hydraulic drive such as the plunger cylinders, pump, valves, etc. find many applications. As a result, they are produced in large runs and are readily available.
| If a scissor lift will not only make a vertical movement but also rotate or tilt goods, for example, the drive of these can be done with the same genset.
| The lift table will lower under its heavy self-weight. The hydraulic pump will therefore run only when lifting. As a result, we realise 50% energy reduction.
However, hydraulic drives also have disadvantages that prevent them from being a solution in some applications. The food industry is an example of this. In such cases, we can switch to a 100% electric drive.
This solution can be controlled by an external controller and thus integrated into an automatic system. Contact us to discuss the possibilities.
Safety is our priority
We achieve the highest level of safety by, among other things:
| Pipe break valve
This is a simple spring mechanism that will close a valve when a pressure difference occurs. It is very cost-effective but will not operate at a small pressure difference and therefore does not offer 100% protection. After the valve is triggered, it will also only be able to be unlocked when lifting. So lowering is only possible after repair. In scissor lifts that are used as work platforms, this is therefore not allowed.
| Electric locking valves on the cylinders
When de-energised, the spring pushes the valve to its resting position and the hydraulic valve orifice is closed. In case of line breakage, the oil is kept in the cylinders. When one wants to move the lift table, the coil is activated which will open the valve and allow the flow of oil.
Electrically unlockable valves have a very high level of safety. However, the installation is slightly more elaborate and in case of a failure of 1 of the locking valves, the full load will no longer be distributed over both cylinders but will only come on 1 cylinder. We take this into account when sizing our scissor lift tables.
| Hydraulic locking valves on the cylinders
Here is the valve also closed at rest and will be opened by hydraulic pressure. This valve is very precise and operationally safe and so the risk of one cylinder having to carry the full load is zero. However, the installation of a hydraulic locking valve is more complex and a hand pump or emergency battery will be needed to lower the lift table in case of power failure.
